Crane, also known as marine lifting machine and ship hoist, is a kind of large deck machinery for loading and unloading the cargo. Hydraulic crane is also generally used on the ship, which is equipped with a set of slewing bearing in the rotation unit. The bearings are required to bear huge axial load and capsizing moment with high reliability.

Bearings of crane on a foreign bulkcago ship were damaged. The user failed to provide the technical drawings of bearings as they had been in use for a long time and the identification and model were beyond recognition. In that case, the user asked LYEF for help.

When the ship arrived at a Chinese shipyard for overhaul, LYEF sent technicians to have on-site measuring of old bearings on the crane to check the installation dimension and parameters of the teeth of each bearing in the shipyard. They calculated the bearing capacity based on the measured data and determined a rational design and then finished the manufacturing and processing according to the design.

The new bearings were produced. However, LYEF learned that the shipyard had no appropriate specification to install the bearing, so special technicians were designated to guide the installation and make sure the belt of bearings and the maximum point of the gear's radial runout were properly set, and that the installation surface met the required precision and the bolt was well pre-tightened. Only the right installation can ensure a safe, stable running of bearings and a longer service life. The user expressed high satisfaction with the solution.
